Letty Lemon Linhart and husband John live in a mobile home and relish the space, freedom, optional companionship, and heated pool and activities it affords.
I even met my husband here and we were married four years ago. We love living at Vista Cascade senior mobile home park. Why did we choose to live here? Our stories are very different.
Letty investigated 12 senior parks in Oceanside, Vista, and San Marcos California. “I chose Vista Cascade for several reasons: The traffic light at the corner for turning in to the entrance and even walking two blocks to the grocery store. The heated and covered pool (I’m an avid swimmer.) The low monthly payment that covered utilities, TV, maintenance of the grounds, and even the mortgage to buy the land the park is on, eventually. The access by bus and train to the beach and downtown San Diego, a city I love. My acquaintances here; one couple I knew collected art and antiquities and loved to travel, as I do, so they needed a secure place to leave behind. Friends to travel with; even more reasons than that.
John saw an ad in the paper that said “own your own land”, drove in and loved the trees, and bought his house that day. When his wife of 30 years died of bone cancer, he and Letty became friends and eventually married. “I was ready to leave my big home and downsize; really ready. And wasn’t I lucky to find a beautiful new companion.!”
The two write a newspaper column for senior diners, Budget Meals Out, and this year took a river boat down the Volga River in Russia.
They’re so sold on Vista Cascade, Letty recently earned her California Real Estate Salesman’s License to help others enjoy the many benefits of senior mobile home living.
“Why spend all your retirement nest egg on housing? We travel, go to the opera and beach, love the many fine restaurants in the area, and have fun at the nearby casinos.”
That’s our belief. We know the low cost of Vista Cascade living makes all the other fun possible.
I owned my own Mobile Home Resale Co. in Winter Park, FL (Letty Kennedy Mobile HOme Resales, Inc.) in the 90s; I've written about 9 books with five still in print; I had my license in FL from 92 till I moved to CA and got it here last year.
